Troop 810 - News

Camp Friedlander - Information and forms have been posted for our summer camp trip to Camp Friedlander, July 12-18, 2015. If you have questions the trip coordinator for this outing is Mr. Waite and SPL will be Matt Kraig.

Annual Health and Medical Record- All scouts are required to have an up to date medical record on file prior to attending any event. Parts A and B are the minimum for events less than 72 hours. Part C is to be completed and signed by a certified and licensed health-care provider—physician (MD or DO), nurse practitioner, or physician assistant for events that exceed 72 hours, such as summer camp.

Uniforms - as you are changing clothes for the season and your Scout has grown out of any uniform pants, shorts or shirts, please bring the clean item to a leader at any meeting. If you are looking for an item, or a size up, check with a leader, the uniform parts are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Other Information

Scout Sunday - Troop 810 along with other scouting organizations at Assumption Parish are participating at the 9:00am liturgy. The next Scout Sunday will be May 31, 2015.

Uniform Requirements for Troop Meetings - during school year wear Field Uniform or Class A (Scout Shirt, Neckerchief, Scout Socks, and Scout Shorts or Trousers), when school is out "Activity" or Class B (Troop or Camp T-shirt, Scout Socks, Scout Shorts or Trousers).

Gear reminder: Scouts are responsible for bringing their tents back clean and dry with all parts. Please make sure your Scout sets up the tent as soon as a campout is over, you can do this in a garage, basement or other dry place. It doesn't take long to dry it and clean out the inside, same with tarps, but it is ruined if it comes back wet and moldy. The dryness also applies to any other Troop equipment including things in the Patrol boxes including rope. Wet & dirty is bad, dry & clean is good.

GIFT CARD PURCHASES CREDITED TO YOUR SCOUT'S ACCOUNT - A new way to defray camping costs is to buy gift cards for local grocery stores, gas stations and stores at face value, in other words if you buy a gift card for $50 it is worth $50 to you. A rebate in the amount of 1%-4% of the cost will be given to your Scout. Order forms are available at Troop meetings, contact Mrs. Golem..

Coke Rewards - Please save your Coca-Cola products which have Coke rewards on them. We have an account where we can accumulate points and defray the cost of the beverages for the rigatoni dinner fundraiser. Selected 20oz and liter bottle caps and the end of specially marked 12-24 and other cases have the notation for Coke Rewards and a special number. Please bring them to all meetings for the Troop and give them to Scout leaders who will place in closet for assigned parents to take and enter..

Can Recycling - We are continuing our recycling funding efforts with aluminum cans which you can bring to the meetings, please smash them to make them less bulky.
