Camp Stambaugh
March
21-23, 2014
Canfield, Ohio
The weather was cold but the skies were mostly clear all weekend. We left the church at six and got to the cabin around seven thirty, when we arrived at Camp Stambaugh we unloaded the troop gear first and then our personal gear. Then we got the troop gear and the patrol boxes setup. Then the cooks of each patrol got snack ready. After that we sat around playing card games until ten thirty. Then we got ready to go to sleep at eleven. In the morning the cooks that were cooking breakfast got up at six thirty and everyone else got up at seven. After everyone was up we started making a flag pole, then we had flag raising and breakfast. Then the people on cleaning duty cleaned all the messkits. Then the older scouts started working on the first aid merit badge and the newer scouts worked on their scout and tenderfoot ranks. After the new scouts were done they started working on their Totin' Chip until lunch. After the older scouts were done they started to make lunch. After lunch we went on a one and a quarter mile hike. When we got back, the older scouts started working on the first aid merit badge again and the newer scouts helped the older scouts, that already have the first aid merit badge, make a fire and set up an axe yard. After the older scouts finished, the newer scouts started working on their Totin' Chip again and learned how to use an axe, hatchet and saw. Then the cooks started making dinner. Then we had a football game in the field next to the cabin. After the football game we ate dinner and had flag lowering. Then the patrols started making skits for a campfire. Then we had the campfire where the patrols performed their skits and we had snack. After the campfire we got ready to go to sleep. Most Agree that we need to work on our skit skills. The next morning we got up and got the troop gear and our personal gear packed up and put in the car, we then cleaned the cabin. After we cleaned the cabin, we ate breakfast and did our thorns and roses outside. Then we left around eight thirty and got back to the church around nine forty five, then we unpacked the troop gear. After that we could go home. Overall a very good weekend.
