Troop 810 Junior Leader Training
Byzantine
Monastery
North Royalton, OH
It was a cool weekend in December
when we held our annual Troop Junior Leader Training. The
cabin was kept at a very comfortable temperature using
the wood burning stove. To start off the weekend we had a
short birthday celebration for Jake which included pizza
and cake. Afterwards we watched a movie and capped off
the evening playing Risk. The group split up to play two
boards and everyone enjoyed trying to conquer the world.
When the games were finished we went to sleep for a good
night's rest. We had a simple breakfast the next morning with choice of cereal, bananas, oatmeal, pop tarts, and other assorted favorites. After that the cabin needed a quick straightening before we could get on with training. The first activity was a game of moon ball to warm everyone up. There were a few obstacles to overcome, mostly the wind and cold weather, but we faired pretty well. The rest of the day was filled with training sessions, lunch, and challenging activities. Each scout grew in their knowledge of leadership. We completed several service projects to finish out the afternoon and then wrapped up the weekend by challenging everyone to put their new found skills to work within the troop. Individuals going through training were Chris, David H., Jacob, Joey P., Matt S., Matt K., Nathan, Peter, Ryan. Instructors were Alex, David D., Kyle, Mr. Dzurnak, Mr. Makowski, and Mr. Mayher. |
