Camp Butler
Space Derby

April 25-27, 2014
Penninsula, OH

Friday was a cool and wet day. We left the church around 6:00 PM and got to the campsite around 6:30PM. The rain had stopped when we reached camp.  When we got there we started unloading the gear from the van and set up the troop gear first.  After we set up the troop gear we set up our tents. We then had snack and tried starting a fire but we couldn't because the wood was wet.

The next day after we woke up we started cooking breakfast and the older scouts made a flagpole. Then we had flag raising and ate breakfast. After breakfast some of older scouts taught the newer scouts how to start a fire and also did rank advancement. Then we had lunch and after lunch we started building our rockets. After everyone was done building there rockets went to go launch the rockets. We started launch the rockets, but some of the rockets were never retrieved because they got stuck in trees. After we were done launching rockets we started making dinner. Then we had flag lowering and ate dinner. Then after that we sat around the fire and saw some planets (Jupiter and 4 of her moons, Mars and Saturn) through a telescope and learned about them. Then we had our snack which was cobbler. We had blueberry apple and Cherry chocolate cobbler. After snack everyone started getting ready for bed.

On Sunday we woke up to a frigid morning. The temperature was about 30 degrees at 6am. We woke up and we started breaking down camp and getting everything packed up. After we got everything packed up we ate breakfast and got ready to leave. We left around 8:30 and got back around 9:00 and put the gear back in the church. The campout was attended by the following Scouts: Peter G, Sean B, Conner P, Trevor P, Lucas B, Steven Z, Nick D, Jimmy L, Dylan W, Patryk S, David R, James S, Andrew E, and Raymond B. Adults on the trip were Mr Boblick, Mr. Deran, Mr. Ryan, Mr. Brown, Mr Payne.
