Yard Charge and Byzantine Monastery

November 5-6, 2005

Cleveland and North Royalton, OH

Members of Troop 810 met at Assumption Church at 8:00 AM. After taking attendance, we drove downtown to the amphitheater in the Flats by the West Bank of the Cuyahoga River. Then we enjoyed some donuts and listened to instructions for the service project we were about to do for the community of Cleveland. Mayor Jane Campbell was present and talked to the crowd. Once we had a group picture taken, we left to go rake yards. The troop raked 10 yards in total, and then went to lunch at KFC. The following people provided service to the community Jared, Matt K., Chris, Kevin, Ryan, David H., Matthew, Steven, Jacob D., Nathan, Peter, DJ, Alex D., Mr. Makowski, Mr. Mayher, Mr. Dzurnak, along with several Cub Scouts and adult leaders from Pack 810.

After lunch, everyone went home to get their gear and headed out to the Byzantine Monastery for a campout. After setting up camp, we raked more leaves for the sisters! We also had lots of fun playing in the leaves as we raked. Then we had dinner and played an intense game of Capture the Flag. For a snack we had cake and hobo pies and then called it a night. The weather was beautiful for the campout except for Sunday morning when we got a bit of rain. Enjoying a night of camping were Nathan, Justin, David D., Alex D., DJ, David H., Ryan, Chris, Matthew, Steven, Mr. Makowski, Mr. Mayher and Mr. Dzurnak.
