Troop 810 - Summer Camp

June 29 - July 5, 2008

Ransburg Scout Reservation
Bloomington, Indiana

From June 29 to July 5, 2008, many members of Troop 810 attended an exciting week of summer camp at Ransburg Scout Reservation in Bloomington, Indiana. This long awaited trip excited many who had memories of the 2004 camp. Just a seven-hour ride away was an adventure none would forget.

Arriving at Ransburg, the troop was greeted by the beautiful scenery and favorable weather that had been hoped for. Check-in was relatively smooth (for once) and our spacious, centrally located campsite was a welcome surprise. Swim checks and dinner soon followed, and the troop hit the sack for the long week ahead.

For the first few days, the weather was suprisingly good, with neither heat nor rain to hinder the experience. The campers enjoyed troop-wide card games and ultimate Frisbee in the afternoon and evening. A remarkable gateway, having a doorbell and even a revolving door, was something everyone could be proud of. Even after the storm, spirits remained high as scouts kept plugging away at merit badges, with the occasional ice-cream bar to help.

Aside from merit badges, scouts seized other opportunities at Ransburg. Alex, Matt, Chris, and Eric had fun at a wonderful C.O.P.E. course. Nick completed his requirements for Wrangler in Ransburg's legendary horsemanship program. The basketball team of Nate, David, and DJ were camp runner-ups in the tournament.

The closing campfire was very nice, complete with slideshow and funny skits. The troop was recognized for its gateway, and went back to the campsite with fond memories of a great week. the next day, Troop 810 packed up and headed home. A great time was had by all. Those spending the week at Ransburg were Adam, Alex, Chris, Danny, David, DJ, Donald, Douglas, Eric, Greg, Jacob, Kurtis, Matt S., Nick, Mr. Dzurnak, Mr. Pytel, Mr. Svihlik, and Mr. Thomas. Pictures anyone?
