Cultural Fair

March 21, 2006

This month our troop worked on cultural awareness. At the first meeting during March, we played a game where we had to tie a square knot while we were wearing mittens or gloves. Wearing the gloves was done to help us understand how it would feel to be disabled with something like arthritis. Each patrol competed against one another in a relay race. The Raging Rams won, followed by the Screaming Eagles, the Penguins and the Crows.

At the second meeting of the month, we held a "Cultural Fair". Each patrol did a presentation on a country. The Crows reported about Italy and brought in pizza and meatballs. The Screaming Eagles gave a report on Mexico and brought Spanish Rice, Tortilla chips, salsa and Chile Con Queso to share. The Penguins reported on Iceland and brought in Icelandic candy. Finally, the Raging Rams did a report on Japan. The food they brought in to share was Japanese Rice crackers. All the patrols had visual aids, such as posters, costumes and pictures for their presentation. In this way, the troop learned about other cultures in a fun and exciting way.

This is the Crows Patrol, and they are giving their presentation on Italy. Yum! Pizza and Meatballs!

Here we have the Penguins Patrol, talking to us about Iceland... so where's the Fish???

Let's Salsa! The Screaming Eagles here, are presenting a report about Mexico...

Last, but definlitely not the least, we have the Raging Rams, presenting us info about Japan. Sushi anyone?
