Troop 810 – Second Summer Camp
July 22nd – July 28th, 2007

Camp Manatoc
Peninsula, Ohio
Manatoc Gate

The week started out smoothly with the troop getting through check-in quickly and setting up camp in a timely manner. After enjoying our first camp dinner for the week, we lowered the flag and marched in retreat. Once the opening campfire was finished, the troop filled out numerous merit badge cards to prepare for the week ahead.

The week went fast as merit badges took up most of our time. The weather was good except for Tuesday, the day of the camp-wide games. The theme for the week was Movie Magic. All the games were supposed to be centered around movies. However, due to the rain, everyone went to the dining hall where the patrols from all the troops did skits. The patrol skit that the camp staff liked the most was the winner. Wednesday came and so did the scouts’ families. The scouts went around camp and showed their families what they had done so far. Thursday came and went and before we knew it, it was Friday night. The camp was pretty soggy from all the rain during the week and with the threat of more rain, the closing campfire was in the dining hall. It was a different experience, but we still had fun.

The next morning was Saturday. We packed up our campsite and circled up one last time before heading home to working appliances. We reviewed what we thought was good about our camping experience and what was bad. After closing prayer we all left camp. Those getting a full week of Movie Magic were Allen, Alex Da., Derek, Donald, Greg, Jacob D., Jacob W., John, Jordan, Kevin, Matt Ka., Matthew M., Nick, Peter (days), Steven, Tom, Mrs. Krymowski, Mr. Makowski, Mr. & Mrs. Mayher, Mr. Rickert, and Mr. Landoll (days).
