Klondike Derby

Rock Creek, OH
January 13-15, 2012

The Klondike Derby was held at Beaumont Scout Reservation. Mr. Drown was the coordinator for this event. Our troop had two patrols competing this year. The campout was a great experience for everybody. It was a fun time of competing outside and then returning to a warm cabin. We were happy that after the warm winter weather that we actually had plenty of snow for a Klondike. The planned events were both fun and challenging. One of our favoite events was the blindfolded tent assembly. Another high point of the campout was the food prepared by Mr. Finn and both patrols. The scouts in attendance got along well for the whole weekend. The weather was cold but if you dressed appropriately in snow pants and snow gear you were comfortable and the cabins were warm to return to. Even though we did not come away with a spirit stick we had fun!
