Parish Festival

August 15-17, 2003

Broadview Heights, OH

We had a successful weekend of volunteer work for our Charter Organization during The Church of Assumption Parish Festival. Our troop had a great time camping out on the parish grounds Friday and Saturday night. Working at the festival was both fun and tiring. Prior to the start we helped set up some of the booths, tables, and anything else that needed done. When the festival was open for business we worked at the game and food booths. For the most part, the weather cooperated with the exception of sporatic rain Saturday evening. The rain cleared up around 10pm and we had a late night campfire at our site after cleaning up the area. Volunteers at the festival were David, Jared, Joey J., Joey P., Kyle K., Kyle S., Nate, Philip, Ryan, Mr. Makowski, and Mr. Svihlik.

Plan for Parish Festival

The Church of the Assumption Festival is a great opportunity for the troop to give back to our Charter Organization. As a troop we will be helping out with the booths, car show, and other tasks. Anyone interested can spend Friday and Saturday night camping on the parish grounds.

UNIFORM: We will be wearing both Class "A" and Class "B" uniforms throughout the weekend. Class "B" is Beaumont 2003 summer camp T-shirt and scout shorts. This is a must for showing off our troop and allowing other festival workers an easy way to identify us. Bring along an extra scout T-shirt for Saturday evening.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE
Friday, August 15th
7:30pm Meet at Old Church if you would like to camp overnight
Saturday, August 16th
7:00am-8:30am Breakfast
8:30am-3:30pm Free time, build chariot for camporee, advancement, etc.
12:30pm Patrol Leaders Council annual planning conference (SPL, ASPL, PL's). If you are a leader and not able to attend be sure to send someone in your place.
3:30pm Troop members arrive to help with car show parking (Class "B" uniform)
5:00pm Flag Raising (Class "A" uniform)
5:00pm-11:00pm Festival - help out in designated areas (Class "B" uniform).
Sunday, August 17th
7:00am-7:30am Breakfast
7:30am Attend mass (Class "A" uniform)
8:30am Shuck sweet corn for chicken dinners followed by free time (Class "B" uniform)
12:00pm Lunch
1:30pm Festival resumes
3:00pm Scouts may leave for the day

For the duration of the weekend there will be opportunities to take breaks or go home for a period of time to get cleaned up. All scouts MUST check out with an adult leader before leaving the site and check in upon return.
