| Members of the troop headed out to the Explorer cabin at Camp Chickagami for a weekend in the outdoors. Upon arrival we hiked all the gear and firewood from the parking lot to the cabin. Everyone pitched in to make several trips and in no time at all we were settled in. It was a bit chilly at first, but once the wood burning stove was fired up the cabin warmed up to a comfortable temperature. One group stayed up late and played Risk while another group tested out their bunks. The weather cooperated with light snow off and on and temperatures in the 20's. In the morning we started our day with a good breakfast. Afterwards scouts worked on advancement or played in the snow. Many tried their hand at lighting a fire outside. The cold weather makes it more challenging to get a good fire going. More snow play in the afternoon along with advancement and making firestarters. When supper was ended we carried some of our gear out to the cars to make for an easy exodus on Sunday morning. That evening most everyone stayed up late to play another game of Risk and enjoy a snack. Spending the weekend in the cabin were Alex, Chris, David, DJ, Eric, Jacob, Joey, Kevin, Kyle, Peter, Ryan, Mr. Makowski, and Mr. Dzurnak. | |
