Pioneer District 2005 Fall Camporee

September 30-October 2, 2005

Hinckley, Ohio

It was a beautiful weekend for camping at Top O'Ledges in Cleveland Metroparks Hinckley Reservation. The activities at the Camporee kept everyone busy. Scouts began the weekend by setting up camp on Friday night, doing a some planning for the next day, and having a snack around the campfire before heading off to their tents. At 6:45am Reveille announced the start of a new day. The Screaming Eagles and Crows patrols woke up to make breakfast and prepared the campsite for inspection. After breakfast the patrols headed over to flag raising followed by patrol competition. Each patrol competed in seven events - Plutonium Portation, Spitting Spider, Tomahawk Throw, Lizigator Swamp, Patrol Perch, Bowline Stroll, and Model Building. The Screaming Eagles came in 3rd Place and the Crows were 10th place in a field of 12 patrols. Webelos and several adult leaders from Pack 810 joined us for the remainder of the weekend. They had separate activities and stayed with us at the campsite.

After patrol competitions we had a quick lunch and readied our chariots for the races. The two patrols were able to win a few races, but faster feet and good track position kept both patrols from finishing in the top 3. With the races behind us we settled down for some free time and a hearty supper. Those not on cooking detail played frisbee or catch with a football. When dinner was over the flag was lowered and we attended a short prayer service along with a campwide campfire full of skits and songs. There was time for reviewing the days activities and a snack before turning in for the night. Everyone seemed to have a good nights sleep after the days activities and we awoke to break camp and head on home. Campers camping out at the Camporee were Adam(1), Alex, Chris, DJ(1), Eric, Jacob D., Jacob S., Jared(1), Joey, Justin(1), Kevin, Kyle, Matt M., Matt S.(1), Nick, Philip, Ryan, Steven, and Mr. Bertram(1), Mr. Dzurnak, Mr. Makowski, Mr. Mayher, Mr. Sonntag, and Mr. Thomas(1).

Don't lose this, it holds the whole tent together.

This could be trouble.

Sure, the Crows can move that Plutonium for you.

Screaming Eagles ready to transport.

Preparing to cross the spitting spider web.

There's no way out now.

Tomahawk throw.
