Frontier District 2003 Fall Camporee

September 20-21, 2003

Tropical Storm Isabel caused a delayed start to the camporee. Rather than arriving Friday evening all troops assembled Saturday morning. The weather was perfect for camping and some fun in the outdoors after Friday's brief rainfall. This marked the first time in quite a while that we used the Patrol Method more effectively within our campsite. Seventeen patrols competed in chariot races and events held at seven different stations. The four troops that decided to stay overnight on Saturday played volleyball and a few other games in the Meadows area. There was a very informal and highly interactive campfire that evening enjoyed by all. The troops that didn't stay really missed out. Although our patrols did not place in the top three this year they had a great time competing and measuring their skills against others in the district. Joining in on the competition and comaraderie were Alex, David, Kyle, Justin, Joey J., Joey P., Matt Kl., Matt Ko., Philip, Ryan, Mr. Makowski, Mr. Svihlik, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Ulintz.

All the troops and their patrols assembled for flag raising and the start of the camporee.

Camporee Details

Upon arriving, a Commissioner will ask the Scoutmaster for his Tour Permit which will be part of the Inspection. Scouts will be dropped off at the ballfield with their equipment. The Scouts will then hike into the campsite, as a patrol, with their backpacks, patrol flag, and possibly a piece of camp equipment. The Scouts need to wear their uniforms when entering the camporee. They will follow the trail that is paved on the left side of the woods. A Commissioner will be at the end of the trail to check and grade the patrols on their uniforms.

Only one vehicle per unit in the unloading area at a time. Once a vehicle is unloaded move it to the designated parking area. No cars will be allowed to remain in the back parking area except for staff. Please inform your parents if they bring Scouts out before the rest of the troop arrives that they need to wait for the rest of the Troop so the Scouts can enter together, as a patrol. The same rule will apply to troops that come out Saturday morning. Also note that if you are coming out Saturday morning please arrive before 8:00 a.m. so we can process you.
