Troop 810 - Summer Camp

June 24-30, 2007

Beaumont Scout Reservation
Rock Creek, Ohio

This summer our troop went to Beaumont summer camp. This began at the Old Church Hall early in the morning. After packing we all got into cars and began our trip to Beaumont. When we arrived we started out by unloading our gear at the camp site. Then we started the same procedure we do at every summer camp. We got our medical forms checked out, then we took a swim test. This was really enjoyable after waiting in the hot sun for all that time. Then we went to the opening camp fire. This campfire was a lot of fun with the camp staff telling many jokes and putting on skits. We then went to camp and went to bed.

Every day after that followed somewhat of a pattern, getting up, flag ceremony, breakfast, merit badges, flag, lunch, merit badges, flag, dinner, then an activity of some type, then bed. Some of the activities were a campfire, troop get together, Ultimate Frisbee game and other fun activities.
For all meals waiters were assigned by Patrol. Also during the meals announcements were made for stuff going on around the camp. These announcements were usually done in an exciting or fun manner. Activities were always a highlight of the day. Each day we did something different and each one was fun in its own way. An example would be the Family Night, at which we visited with our families and ate Augies Pizza.

Some of the older boys had the most fun in the morning, instead of merit badges, they took COPE. The people that took this course, from Troop 810, were Eric, Kyle, Justin, Joey, Matt, and Alex. They had a ton of fun learning new skills and going through challenges. They started out on the Low-COPE course. This course was meant to train leadership skills and communication between members of the course so the High-COPE course could be achieved. After they finished the Low-COPE course they moved on to the High-COPE course. The High-COPE course was an obstacle course in the sky. There were two paths you could choose but, during one day hornets were found in one of the platforms. This course was meant for communication, fun, and teamwork. Everyone had a great time at COPE.

On the last day we did something quite different from other camping trips. We took down our tents but left out our ground cloths. We slept in our sleeping bags on the ground cloths. This was something new and this saved us much time on our departure. In the end, we all had a great time. The older scouts working on merit badges and COPE, and the younger scouts working on advancement and some merit badge work. Everyone enjoyed their week at camp. People that joined us on this summer camp were; Alex, Chris, Donald, Eric, Greg, Jacob, Joey J., Joey P., John, Jordan, Justin, Kyle, Matt Kl., Matt O., Matt S., Matthew, Nate, Nick, Sam, Steven, Tim R., Mr. Dzurnak, Mr. and Mrs. Mayher, Mr. Owen, Mr. Svihlik.

PO Box 235 SR45 N
Rock Creek, Ohio 44084

Troop Pictures: $7.00 each due upon check in on Sunday. However, we do get 1 picture for free for our troop so Mr. Dzurnak plans on getting copies made for each scout and leader attending camp.

Spending $: A scout may want to bring $25 - $50 for spending cash for a T-Shirt, rifle/shot gun costs, an occasional ice cream, crafts, or even to repurchase a lost or forgotten item. We recommend bringing the money in small denominations in an envelope with his name on it for spending cash. The leaders keep the envelopes so the scouts do not lose all of their money. The scout signs out the amount they want to take from the envelope and then returns the envelope back to the leader for safe keeping.
